06 30 2010I am obsessed with Queen Anne's Lace. It's so pretty, so free flowing, so old garden. I don't consider it a weed at all. I've tried growing it in my flower beds on purpose, but with no success. Today we went to a friend's farm, and I picked a handful of blooms, two of which were the size of small dessert plates. For fun, I made my interpretation of one of the blooms here in an art card. Kind of odd ball, definitely off color, but kind of fun just the same. Monet would called it Impression: Queen Anne's Lace. Art Card. Screen print overdrawn with oil pastel, watercolor pencil, pen and free motion quilted. About 5 x 5 inches.

I love this art card so much! The colors, the shape, everything about it. I seem to be really drawn to your oil pastel pieces - so to speak! ;)

06 29 2010Work in progress. Not sure where this is going yet, but results of my rusting escapades can be seen here. Both images are details of 2 larger pieces of cloth, to be combined later. More abstract expressionism I suppose. Need to add more of the rusted steel wool to the right hand side of the fabric to make the transition from left to right easier. And, I think some overprinting in indigo blue is warranted soon as well.
Second detail of the right hand piece of cloth:

This silkscreen fragment reminded me of my poppies, bright and stretching toward the sun. Art Card. Silkscreen on fabric, free motion quilted. About 5 x 5 inches.

I like the pink hue with the gold thread - the colors really pop. It's so unique in comparison to your other art cards. I hope you have more of this pinky dyed fabric - I wanna see what else you create!
